A North Texas mother underwent a nine-hour surgery after being hit by a foul ball at a Frisco RoughRiders game, according to NBC DFW. Single mother of two, Dana Mattay, was attending the game on August 14th when, after reaching down to retrieve some popcorn, she was struck in between her eyes by a foul ball. The damage to her face required a nine-hour reconstructive surgery, in which a piece of her ribs were used, in order to prevent any future breathing problems. Unfortunately, her insurance may not cover the nearly $100,000 surgery. Her sister has set up a GoFundMe page in hopes of helping with medical bills, and Mattay is also focused on increasing safety measures around the Frisco ballpark, and other ballparks around the country.
