A Dallas woman is seeking more than $1 million from the Dallas Police Department, after they allegedly failed to respond to her calls for help, according to NBC DFW. Roxanna Mayo, a formerly successful salon owner, was shot by her then-boyfriend on January 19th. Earlier that day, Mayo claims her boyfriend was drunk and threatening her and her family, so she, her mother, and her daughter repeatedly called 911 for help. She alleges there was no response for over an hour, until a neighbor reported the shooting, and when police finally arrived, they did not believe Mayo was actually unable to move. Mayo is now paralyzed from the chest down, except for one arm. Mayo is now left unable to support her four children, and is relying on GoFundMe donations to help with her medical bills.
