A North Texas couple has been reunited with their baby after a mix-up at an El Salvadorian hospital, according to NBC DFW. Richard Cushworth and his wife, Mercedes Casanellas, travelled to Casanellas’ home country, El Salvador, to give birth to their child. Upon returning to Dallas, they noticed their child did not look like them and had a DNA test performed, which revealed the child was not theirs. They filed a lawsuit against their OB-GYN and began the process to get their son back. Four couples that gave birth at the same hospital underwent DNA testing, and one was a match for Cushworth and Casanellas. Investigators are looking into the incident, but do not yet know if the switch was intentional or an accident.
