A woman that was falsely accused of shooting and killing her boyfriend in 2010 has filed a lawsuit against the Dallas detective for wrongful-arrest. 36-year-old Hephzibah Olivia Lord told police that her boyfriend, 30-year-old Michael Burnside, committed suicide that night, which both a medical examiner field agent and emergency room doctor agreed upon. However, 21-year police veteran Dwayne A. Thompson continued to pursue Lord as a suspect, and she was arrested a month later. According to the Dallas Morning News, a Dallas County grand jury declined to indict her. She spent nine days in jail as a result of her arrest. Dallas City attorneys defending Thompson say he acted appropriately and in good faith.
