Last week we wrote a post about a Keller teenager, 16-year-old Ethan Couch, whose drunk driving led to the death of four people. The accident also paralyzed one and injured several others; he has since been given a sentence of 10 years probation, a light sentence which has caused outrage in Texans and out-of-state witnesses alike. According to WFAA News, the family of the victims had hoped for Couch to receive jail time for his involvement. Couch’s defense team asserted that Couch’s affluent parents allowed him freedoms that no teenager should have, and therapy would be more beneficial than jail time. Couch could have been handed a 20-year life sentence; instead he will be sent to a rehabilitation center with a whopping $450,000 a year price tag.
