A 20-year-old man shot by a Dallas police officer last year has a filed a lawsuit against the city, according to the Dallas Morning News. Kevin Walker is seeking at least $10 million in the lawsuit after being shot by former Senior Cpl. Amy Wilburn while riding as a passenger in a stolen car that Wilburn was pursuing. Wilburn, who has since been fired, claimed she could not see Walker’s hands. Wilburn immediately drew her weapon and shot Walker, who was unarmed at the time. Walker suffered severe internal injuries as a result. Following this incident, and several similar ones, the Dallas Police Department is now increasing their use-of-force training, and field-testing uniform-worn cameras.
