Southern Methodist University has reached a confidential settlement with a former professor that filed a federal lawsuit against the school, accusing the school of wrongfully terminating her, according to the Dallas Morning News. Patricia Davis, who worked in the Perkins School of Theology and Embrey Human Rights program, filed the suit in 2013 after reporting inappropriate behavior by another professor. Davis alleged that Rick Halperin, the founder of school’s human rights program, met with female students late at night in his closed office. A campus investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing, a decision that Davis attempted to appeal the day before she was fired. The settlement reached in mediation formally closes the case.
