An Austin construction worker was injured after being pinned down by an elevator Wednesday morning. WFAA News reported that the accident took place at a building under construction on Congress Avenue. The man was working on an elevator shaft when the elevator became activated and pinned his head between it and concrete. The man was freed and taken to an area hospital with life-threatening head injuries. WFAA News covered a second construction incident later on Wednesday; members of Dallas Fire-Rescue’s Urban Search and Rescue team climbed 120 feet up an apartment construction site near Skillman Street and Mockingbird Lane to rescue a worker suffering from back spasms. The worker was unable to climb down because of the spasms, so experts had to be called in for this unusual rescue.
