The new year will mark a big pattern in Texas transportation: 2014 will be the 13th consecutive year without a day in which no deaths occurred on Texas roads. According to MyFOX DFW, the last day without at least one person dying in an automobile incident was November 7th, 2000. It’s possible that this is the longest streak in Texas transportation history. Yesterday, a woman was hit and killed crossing the northbound side of I-35 near Seminary Drive in Fort Worth. MyFOX DFW reported that a white car tried to swerve to avoid the woman, but spun out, was then hit by an 18-wheeler. Another pedestrian related accident was reported in Denton County, but the man survived and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
