A mother of a Spring Branch ISD student has hired a lawyer and filed a grievance against the school district for forcing her daughter to sit on the floor for four weeks, according to WFAA News. The first grader was punished after drawing a picture on her desk at Westwood Elementary School in the San Antonio suburb of Spring Branch. The girl was sent to the principal’s office, forced to clean her desk, and her desk was removed, forcing her to sit on the floor during class. The girl was told she would not have a desk again until second grade, but her mother was never informed of that punishment. After a month, the girl finally told her parents what was happening, and they transferred her to another school. They hope the grievance will prevent this situation from happening to another young student.
