One person died in east Dallas County after an Amtrak train and an 18-wheeler collided on Thursday, according to NBC DFW. The accident occurred in Sunnyvale near the edge of Mesquite at about 4:30 p.m. There were 44 passengers and six crewmembers on board the train, which was headed from San Antonio to Chicago, but no one was injured. The driver of the 18-wheeler was headed to a paving contractor beside the train tracks. He was killed in the accident. His name has not been released. The cause of the accident also has not been released at this time.
