Nine members of Barnum & Bailey Circus’ Legends tour were injured Sunday afternoon during a show in Rhode Island. The performers were attempting a “human chandelier” when a metal frame broke and sent eight women crashing down on a ninth woman, according to the Dallas Morning News. The circus’ 11 a.m. performance was attended by nearly 4,000 people, and the show was cancelled about 30 minutes later. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident. Of the performers injured, several are reported as being in serious condition, with injuries ranging from skull and back injuries to fractures and compound fractures.
