The family of a slain 19-year-old Michigan woman is suing the man convicted of killing her, according to the Huffington Post. Renisha McBride was shot in the face by 55-year-old Theodore Wafer after he found McBride, injured and intoxicated, on his Detroit-area porch last November. McBride was unarmed, but Wafer claimed he feared McBride was attempting to break into his home. However, Wafer did not call 911 until after he shot McBride. Wafer was convicted of second-degree murder and manslaughter earlier this month and will be sentenced on September 3rd; McBride’s family is now seeking $10 million in a wrongful death lawsuit against him.
