Alleging the company made false claims about their medical protection products, a $500 million lawsuit has been filed against Dallas-based Kimberly-Clark, according to FOX DFW. The lawsuit claims the company has known for over a year that their surgical gowns failed industry impermeability tests for blood and microbes, and despite this knowledge, continued to market their products as providing the highest level of safety. The Dallas hospital in which two nurses contracted Ebola carried Kimberly-Clark surgical gowns, but it is not known if those were the gowns they, or the Spanish nurse who contracted the illness, were wearing at the time of infection. However, it is estimated that the company has sold tens of millions of gowns worldwide.
