A nine-vehicle wreck involved at least 17 people and killed five last weekend, according to NBC DFW. The initial crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 30 between Oakland Boulevard and Beach Street; an 18-wheeler then collided and caught fire. Fort Worth residents Veronica Gonzales, 43, and Mary Hernandez, 42, were two of the victims killed in the accident. Steve and Tracey Franklin stopped to help, but became involved in the crash. Steve was killed and Tracey is in critical condition at John Peter Smith Hospital. The names of the other people killed have not been released. Of those people involved in the chain-reaction crash, five died, two had life threatening injuries, one suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, and ten received minor injuries.
