Jury selection began this week in the case of those injured or killed in the veterans parade float that was hit by a freight train in Midland, according to NBC DFW. The accident happened in November 2012, with the blame placed partially on city and parade organizers. Specifically, the short warning of the train crossing lights and gates were believed to have been the cause. Four were killed in the accident, and many others injured. 24 of those injured and two families of those killed in the accident settled their lawsuit with Union Pacific Railroad. This current lawsuit, however, is separate and includes 17 plaintiffs.
