After the death of an 11-year-old Galveston girl in 2012, a trucker has received a four-year sentence for criminally negligent homicide, according to NBC DFW. Christina Marie Lopez, a sixth grader, was waiting at a bus stop when 47-year-old truck driver, Hector Pena, attempted to make a turn. The rig hit Lopez, and she was killed. Pena was originally charged with manslaughter, but jurors instead charged him with the lesser charge. Pena’s sentence could have been up to 10 years for Lopez’s death.
