The family of Tanisha Anderson has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Cleveland Police Department, according to the Huffington Post. Anderson’s family called police in November after a mental health episode with 37-year-old Anderson, who suffered from schizophrenia, and her family agreed to let the officers transport Anderson to a hospital. During the interaction, however, Anderson’s family alleges the police used excessive force, including slamming Anderson into the ground, which resulted in her death. An autopsy report ruled Anderson’s death a homicide, with heart disease and mental illness as contributing factors.
