Following several recent six-figure settlements, the city of Dallas approved a settlement of $105,000 to Danny Cantu, after he alleged that police used excessive force while executing a search in his home in 2010. Cantu’s complaint claims that police officers burst into his home, using a flash bang grenade, and struck him repeatedly, after zip-tying his hands behind his back, according to the Dallas Morning News. Cantu received multiple significant injuries, as a result, and caused him to lose consciousness. Cantu was under investigation for involvement with a Mexican Drug Cartel, but he was never charged with a crime related the search. The police officers involved in this case denied the excessive force claims.
