26-year-old nurse and Ebola survivor, Nina Pham, has filed a lawsuit against the parent company of the hospital where she contracted the disease, according to WFAA News. Pham was one of the nurses treating Thomas Duncan, a Liberian who contracted the disease before travelling to visit family in Dallas. Pham’s lawsuit alleges she was not properly trained or provided with the necessary equipment to care for Duncan; instead, she had to decide for herself what personal protection equipment (PPE) to wear. As a result, she and one other healthcare worker contracted Ebola. Pham’s lawsuit seeks actual, compensatory, consequential, exemplary, and punitive damages.
