Two back-to-back crashes on the LBJ freeway have left one man dead this morning in Dallas. At 2:30 A.M., a Toyota sedan hit a pick-up truck, according to CBS-DFW, just west of the Dallas North Tollway. As the two drivers involved stepped out of their cars, a third vehicle slammed into the cars. One of the drivers was able to get out of the way; the other was pinned and pronounced dead at the scene. The third driver, Jerry Mathew Abraham, was arrested for drunk driving, and now faces a intoxication manslaughter charge. He is currently being treated for injuries at a nearby hospital. The accident has been cleaned up and the vehicles cleared, but police will continue to investigate the crash.

Accidents involving drunk driving are avoidable tragedies, but when they do happen, they often have disastrous outcomes. This morning, three families have been changed forever, and while it appears that Abraham will face criminal charges, it is unclear what civil action, if any, the victims and their families will take.
