Nearly 20 people were injured after a Houston middle school bus veered off the road and crashed into a tree on Tuesday morning, according to NBC DFW. Of the 28 people on the private school bus, 18 students and the driver were hospitalized for injuries. The Nancy’s Bus Service vehicle, a private bus company, was not registered and therefore, not allowed to drive on Texas roads. The company’s registration was revoked in 2009 due to lack of insurance. Investigators said the bus driver claimed a mechanical failure caused the accident.
