The Texas woman that was struck and killed by a Philadelphia tourist boat has been identified as 68-year-old Elizabeth Karniki from Beaumont, according to NBC DFW. Karniki and her husband were walking in downtown Philadelphia’s Chinatown during rush hour when the accident occurred. Karniki’s husband was walking a few feet in front of her when a Ride the Ducks boat hit her. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses will be interviewed and surveillance cameras reviewed, but at this point, it appears to be an accident and no charges have been filed. In 2010, two Hungarian tourists were killed on a duck boat after a barge driver hit them while talking on a cell phone. A $17 million settlement was reached in that case.
